So I'm missing the elections and I'm very sad... But I wouldn't be able to vote even if I was home because I'm not a citizen, I just have a green card. I WOULD vote for Obama though, which pissed my grandpa off today. I was sitting in the kitchen eating a sandwich and he asked me who I think should win and I said Obama, and he went off on how blacks shouldn't run the country and that someone old and mature like McCain is better qualified, and then walked away and I lost ALL respect right then and there for my grandpa. Then he came BACK and started talking more stuff and I started yelling at him because he was saying all these false facts, and he said, "Let me finish," and I said why the hell would I let you finish if you just say your part and walk away?! And he said because I'm your elder and you need to respect me, and I said I don't respect racist people, elder or family or not. Then that pissed him off even more and by that point all civility was lost. Oh, and then he asked me what I knew of the world, have I ever worked a hard day's work? And I said yeah, actually I have, 12 hours for a dollar 25 an hour! And he just said Puh! Like, don't "puh" at me, just because you've lived for more decades than me, doesn't mean you know more. You may know more about the time where you lived, but your wrinkly old brain doesn't know as much about the present as say someone growing up in these times. Not to MENTION that I LIVE in the country he was ranting about, all he sees is filtered news in Europe, which is ALREADY racist...
Anyway, if any republicans are reading this, I don't mean to offend you, I just hate ignorance and I'm embarrassed that my grandpa thinks it's okay to think the way he does. But for his excuse, older people are like that I think, especially growing up under communist rule in Budapest, it's been nailed into his head to hate.
But still.
Ugh okay I'm done.
